Change of Project

After filming for my short film for some time, my actor decided that he did not want to participate anymore therefore I either had to find a new actor or do a different project. I could not find an actor suitable for the film so I decided to change to a music video as this was one of my only options and it would be easier to create a music video than another short film in a smaller period of time because I would not have to worry about factors such as diegetic sound.

.mts Files

I originally thought that the higher quality option for the camera wouldn't be compatible with iMovie but due to updates on the programme .mts files now work so I don't have to download a third party file converter.

Improving Camera Quality

After doing test recordings I decided that I wasn't happy with the quality of the picture so I researched ways to improve it. From this we found out that AVCHD produced better video quality but the default setting was motion JPEG as it was more compatible with other devices and would take up less space on the SD card as you can see from the table above. I switched over to AVCHD to be able to record in 1080p as opposed to 720p.

Rough Idea of the First Scene (Post Audio Fix)

Again, this is only a rough version of the final piece because we have decided it is too long and there is still some changes to be made to it. For example, the audio is still not as smooth as we would like and there are parts that we want to cut out completely to for timing reasons. We also want to trim each shot down slightly to make each shot sharper and more presentable.

Audacity: Audio Fixing

To ensure the sound of the kettle wasn't constantly changing throughout the scene, the noise it made was just put on a loop throughout the entire scene to make it sound like it was constantly boiling.

Target Grade - A

To achieve my target my research, planning and evaluation must be detailed, effectively communicated and presented digitally, using a wide variety of formats. I need detailed
research into similar products and target audience and to show the process of planning by including excellent work on shotlists, drafts, storyboards, scripts, locations and props. I need to show full evidence of the research and planning informing the construction process. My
evaluation must reflect my excellent understanding of forms and conventions, an understanding of the use of new media throughout the stages of production, the way my ancillary and primary tasks combine effectively. There will be an excellent understanding of the significance of audience feedback. My production work, across the formats, will demonstrates excellent creativity and imagination as I seek to make them as convincing as possible and it will also reflect my mastery in technical skills such as controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes, close attention to mise-en scène, appropriate transitions and use of sound.
